Getting Published

You've finished your book, edited it and now you are ready to take the next step of getting it published.

What comes first, an agent or a publisher?

There is no easy answer to that question. For some writers getting a publisher is easier than finding an agent to sell their work. Others get an agent immediately but then it still takes years to get a publisher.

For certain you will need a publisher or your work will not be published. You can do without an agent, though if you want to make certain you get the best deal and if you want to get your work in front of top line publishers, you will probably need to get an agent eventually.
